Welcome our web site about concerts in this area!

Joel Dawson started playing the viola when he was ten years old, and spent his first eighteen years exclusively on that instrument, when he began to play the violin also. He minored in music as an undergraduate at MIT, where he studied with violist Marcus Thompson. As a doctoral student at Stanford, he studied with Gennady Kleyman, played chamber music with numerous groups, and was active as a freelance musician in the San Francisco Bay Area. He joined the MIT faculty in the fall of 2004.
